Anniversary/Honeymoon: Day 5

We bid a fond farewell to Calistoga on September 19(I am thankful to report that the fires have been contained and evacuation orders lifted.  I've received emails from both of "our" wineries saying they are well, happy and open for visitors.  YAY!) and headed out of Napa Valley.  We made a short stop at Oxbow Public Market in the city of Napa.  We'd already eaten breakfast and it was too early for lunch...but this was a seriously nifty place. Various individual vendors inside one building...a very high end food related flea market.

Schloss is the German equivalent for "chateau."  A friend of our, who shall remain unnamed, has an Appalachian Mountain property that is lovingly referred to as "The Schloss." We were reminded of him and his beautiful house when we saw the name of this cheese.

Punkin and the BIG pumpkin.  Yes, both of us real.  One, however, significantly larger than the other.

Cupcakes waiting to be frosted at Kara's Cupcakes.  Oh, my goodness!!!

Immediately thought of our brown eyed Boyo when I saw the little tomatoes...so colorful and vibrant!  He loves the unusual ones...devours them like candy.  I would have like to get a knife into the larger ones, with some good mozzarella, basil and balsamic vinegar!

Them dang chips!

Oh, Valdosta...fairly close to home.  Georgia on my mind.

MY Annette spells her name differently, but this little kiosk of similar moniker made me think of her.  She would have loved all the chocolaty treats!

In 2015, Mr. Snark saw the starting point of The Pony Express.  Without much trouble, we were able to work in a chance to see the last stop in Sacramento.

Scenes from Old Sacramento.  Complete with a horse drawn buggy...and associated horsey smells!

Golden grass

Scenery from Sacramento to Yosemite.  No naps taken at any time in the passenger seat of our rented Hoopty Wagon.

Coming into Yosemite, we saw evidence of the recent Railroad Fire.

Back side of Big Trees Lodge in Wawona, California.

I've stayed in a few hotels over the course of my life but never have I been instructed to remove all food, food related items from my vehicle because of bears.

Bears, right.  Bears.
