Feasting on Life

Did you ever notice how food...no matter how simple...always tastes better when you share it with friends?  In fact, I honestly believe, the simpler the food, the better the feast!  We ate tacos with our Youth Pastor and his family last night.  Tacos...simple as it comes...but I'm telling you, the Queen of England's never had a finer meal.  It's more than just the food, though...it's the whole thing.  Being comfortable in each other's company...kids tearing through the house waging the greatest battle ever know to all of Nerf War-dom...and laughter, so much laughter.  Sharing stories from shared experiences and from the times before our paths crossed...learning more about one another and being so thankful for the moments.  We like to call it "doing life."  No pretense.  No masks.  No show.  No facade.  Just being who you are and knowing that level of honesty will be returned in kind.  No judgement.  No condemnation.  Accountability and trust.

As good as the food was...and it was...did I mention the Oreo truffles (!!!!!!!!!)....I would have been full and completely satisfied to just be there in the midst of all it.  To be so busy laughing, smiling and having such good conversation that you don't want to stop to eat, is a beautiful thing.  Focusing on the things that are eternal; making memories that will keep you warm when it's cold and buoyant when the storm rages.  You can always grab a sandwich later.
