Well....today I give you three songs because I couldn't decide which to post and there are JUST so many good ones...so why not?
"Light of The Stable"...the version that's on my CD is just JAMMING! I turn it up LOUD and sing...never being able to just sing the lead or just sing the harmony...I try to do both. I'm just talented that way. Ok...not really. When the Ys were younger, they would sing along with me.
The next song in today's trifecta is one that is just near and dear to my heart. I asked FILove to learn how play this and being the guitar demi-god (notice...that's a little "g")that he was, he did just that. He picked and strummed, while MILove and I sang a duet. We performed this number at my church in SMALLtown, GA for the first time in December 1999. It was a simply precious moment in time. I was tickled that they would want to perform with me...between FILove's playing and MILove's gorgeous voice...they were the cake and the frosting. My contribution was nothing more than a very tiny cherry on top.
And to draw this to a close...did you ever wonder about the lullabies that Mary might have sang to baby Jesus? I came across this song, several years ago, in my hunt for something pretty to sing at church. The Martins...sisters Joyce and Judy and their brother, Jonathan...are the original artists, but I couldn't find a video of them singing. There's PLENTY of videos for their other songs...you should look them up. They are a CLASSIC example of what makes family vocal groups so special. Here's something funny about The Martins. Their mama followed Gloria Gaither (wife of Bill Gaither) into the ladies' room at a music function and passed the demo tape her children had made UNDER THE DOOR of the stall occupied by Mrs. Gaither! Never underestimate what a mother will do to make the dreams of her children come true!
